The recommended gypsum to water ratio is between 1.20:1 and 1.30:1, with a mixing time of approximately 2 to 4 minutes, depending on batch size and gypsum shop process.

Water and plaster must be carefully measured to ensure consistent performance.

The exact consistency used needs to be adjusted to suit the specific application. Variations in the ratio of gypsum to water will affect product properties, particularly setting time, strength and permeability.

When stored in original packaging under dry conditions, the product will have a specified shelf life which commences from the date of manufacture shown on each pallet.

The shelf life depends on the type of packaging and the conditions at the packaging location.

Storage

Gypsum-based products are not recommended for use outdoors or in environments that are subject to weathering or excessive moisture in any way.

The absorption of water can result in changes in physical properties, including a reduction in the setting strength of the stucco and a prolonged setting time.

Gypsum minerals are affected by the absorption of moisture and may change physical properties. To protect the product during use, opened or partially used bags should be carefully folded and closed. The stock in each bag should be rotated so that the oldest material is used first.

International Building Materials Corporation Stucco and Gypsum Minerals Material Safety Data Sheets apply to all products.
