3. use

DPC can be used in vertical and horizontal applications to limit upward and horizontal movement of water within structural walls.
DPC is not suitable for applications that impose high shear stresses on the DPC, such as containment walls, or high flex stresses, such as freestanding walls and parapets.
DPCs should not be used to restrict downward flow of water, such as over lintels or within cavity walls.

4. Install
Installation should be carried out in accordance with Code of Practice CP102:1973 and normal DPC good practice procedures as set out in BS 5628 should be followed.
Here are some brief guidelines on how to use DPC:
- For exterior walls, DPC shall be applied 150 mm above the adjoining surface and shall be joined to DPM in solid floors. DPC should be applied to a new layer of screed completely free of protrusions that could pierce the material or prevent the DPC from laying flat. When connecting two DPCs, they should overlap each other by at least 100mm.
- For interior walls, the DPC shall be installed at the base of the load-bearing wall and connected to any adjacent DPM. The width of a DPC shall be at least equal to the width of the partition to which it is applied and, when two DPCs are connected, overlap by at least 100mm.
