What are expansion bars?
The expansion strip—sometimes called a weatherstrip—is just one of the key components of a fire door. Run around the edge of the door and jamb, it helps trap the smoke in the area, preventing it from spreading, and helps keep the flames from spreading beyond the door.
The strip also expands in the event of a fire, providing additional protection by filling the gaps around the door. Using low-friction fibers, the seal also effectively helps the door close to create a seal.
